Passport Information

 

Passports will be processed at the Grant County Clerk's Office in the Law & Justice Building, Room 218, Ephrata, WA:

Monday - Friday

In order to better serve you, please present your passport application for processing during the following hours:

8:00 AM - 11:30 AM (arrive prior to 11:30 AM) &

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (arrive prior to 4:00 PM)

 

 

 

 

 

New Application for a U.S. Passport


To obtain a passport for the first time, you need come in person to our office or one of the other 7,000 passport acceptance facilities located throughout the United States.  You must bring the following documents:

1)     Two passport photographs of yourself (please click here for the necessary criteria). There are several businesses in our area that perform this service.

2)     Proof of U.S. citizenship:  You may prove U.S. Citizenship with any one of the following:

  • Previous U.S. Passport (mutilated, altered, or damaged passports are not acceptable as evidence of U.S. citizenship.)
  • Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state (A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth).
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
  • Naturalization Certificate
  • Certificate of Citizenship

3)     Valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license.

 

For Minors 14 to 17:

  • Your child MUST appear in person.
  • For security reasons, parental consent may be requested.
  • If your child does not have identification of his/her own, you need to accompany your child, present identification and co-sign the application.

Passport Fees (Effective February 1, 2008)

Routine Services (Form DS-11)
Non-Refundable

Age 16 and older: The passport fee is $75. The execution fee is $25. The total is $100.

 (The $75 must be separate and in the form of a check or money order made out to the U.S. Department of State)

 

Under Age 16: The passport fee is $60. The execution fee is $25. The total is $85.

(The $60 must be separate and in the form of a check or money order as made out to U.S. Department of State)

 


Renewal of a U.S. Passport
You can renew by mail if:  

  • Your most recent passport is available to submit and it is not damaged
  • You received the passport within the past 15 years
  • You were over age 16 when it was issued
  • You still have the same name, or can legally document your name change

     

You can get a passport renewal application form by downloading it from www.travel.state.gov.


If your passport has been, altered or damaged, you cannot apply by mail. You must apply in person.
