Hazard mitigation planning is a process designed
to identify ways to reduce the loss of life and
property damage resulting from natural disasters
such as tornados, severe winter storms, severe
summer storms, flooding and other events. Public
meetings will be held in 2011 to obtain input
about the severity and frequency of hazards
affecting the area, the location of critical
facilities, and potential actions or projects to
mitigate losses.
Grant County Emergency Management is
coordinating this planning effort for the
benefit of the county, participating cities, and
special purpose districts. It is the
responsibility of these jurisdictions and
residents to review the plan. Various sections
of the plan explain the planning process,
overall risk assessment and public
participation.
