On Sunday, January 3, 2010, at about 7:20
p.m., Grant County Sheriff's Deputy John Bernard was killed
in a vehicle collision
while on routine patrol about 10 miles south of Ephrata.
Over the course of the week that followed,
John's family and the Grant County Sheriff's Office were
helped by citizens and
emergency response agencies from Grant County, across
Washington, the U.S. and Canada. Huge support was received
planning
John's funeral. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs,
the Behind the Badge Foundation and
Big Bend Community College worked as a team to honor John's
life and his family.
We will always remember John, John's
family, and everybody who supported his family and the GCSO.
Below are
a slideshow and photos of John's funeral, held
Monday, January 11, 2010 at Big Bend Community College in
Moses Lake.
